Free Screening Mammograms

Location:         The H.O.P.E. Project Mobile Mammogram Unit will be parked at Lifestyle Realty Group and Great Florida Insurance located
                       at 955 South Federal Hwy, Stuart, Fl.
Time:               9:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Requirements:  Martin County Resident
                       Must be over age 35 - no history or current breast problems - no implants
                       No insurance or other means to pay
                       Must have a physician's order for a screening mammogram prior to appointment
                       Please call for additional criteria and an interview. Appointments are limited.
 

One in every eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime and early detection does save lives. Mammograms are the key to early detection. As part of our program, we have established an ongoing program of free mammograms. With the support of Martin Memorial Health Systems and referrals from practicing physicians and Planned Parenthood, we offer certificates for free mammograms to the women of Martin County who are 30 years of age and older and who do not have health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare or the financial ability to pay for a mammogram. Twice a year, usually in October and May, we also offer free mammograms through the H.O.P.E. Project Mobile Mammogram Van. With the assistance of an $8,000 grant from Soroptimist International of the Americas, the Stuart Club provided 150 mammograms in 2002 alone. Today, the Carolyn Coy Cancer Fund assists in keeping this program ongoing.

Soroptimist International of Stuart provides certificates for free mammograms. 

In order to qualify you must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a resident of Martin County
• No private health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid
• Not able to pay
• Have a physician's order for a screening or diagnostic mammogram
• No mammogram within the last 12 months

Completing this application does not automatically qualify you to obtain a free mammogram.  A representative from Soroptimist International of Stuart will contact you for a brief telephone interview and to additional further information.  You may be required to provide proof of residency and financial need.
