If you do not have health
insurance and require assistance to obtain a biopsy:
If you are a resident of Martin and St.
Lucie Counties and meet eligibility requirements, you may be entitled to have a
free or low cost breast biopsy through the Florida Community Health Center, Fort
Pierce, or Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart. These programs require that you are
uninsured or underinsured and meet financial guidelines for assistance.
The funding for this program is made possible through grants provided by the
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, South Florida.
You must have a prescription or referral from a physician or nurse
practitioner to see a surgeon.
If you have a lump in your breast,
you first need to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse practitioner for a
Clinical Breast Exam. They will
order a mammogram, breast ultrasound
and, if needed, refer you to see a surgeon.
If you do not have health insurance you may qualify for assistance.
